The Great Indian Traffic Show

Source: medium.com

The most majestic and mind blowing show that you can ever witness is the Great Indian Traffic show that runs every single day on the streets of India.

Why is it THE BEST?

If you have ever heard of the phrase “Rules are made to be broken” then the real authenticity of that phrase can be felt at the core of the heart only on the Indian roads.

ANYONE can drive, ANYWAY they want. There are ZERO restrictions. The public has complete authority of driving their vehicle according to their norms. The rules don’t MATTER!

Here is a list of things you can do while driving in India:

  • Take a Left/Right turn without turning on the indicator
  • Take a left turn with your right indicator ON or vice versa
  • Overtake a vehicle towards the left hand side, that too without any pass light or a single honk
  • Move to the complete right side of the road before taking a right turn on the main street and end up on the wrong side of the road upon taking the turn. In addition, you can call names at the people whom you find moving towards you right after you take the turn because YOU ended up on the wrong side and still get away with it
  • Have complete liberty on applying brakes in the middle of the road if you want in case you have a sudden phone call. You don’t need to care for the vehicles behind you
  • Especially if you want to drive an e-rickshaw, you have even more liberty. You can stop anywhere on the road to pick up or drop off passengers and take off immediately after the above task is done without any indication to the vehicles behind you
  • Use a helmet as a substitute for Driving License and Registration Card for your vehicle. How cool is that?
  • Overtake as many times as you want and create a 4 lane traffic on a 2-way road
  • Buy an off-road motorcycle and get the real feel of it right in the middle of the town because of the amazing roads
  • As a pedestrian, you can walk on the middle of the road and not give a damn about the vehicle behind you because if the vehicle hits you under any circumstances, the driver is completely responsible for the accident. The pedestrian is always INNOCENT!

This is the beauty of the Great Indian Traffic Show! And you know what? You get to see all of these, live in front of your very eyes, all for FREE, 24*7!
